The role of Synod General Secretary has been altered to bring it into line with the General Secretary of the Assembly.
General Secretary of the Northern Synod, Peter Jones, said the proposal was about ‘regulatory catch-up’.
“I think the problem is when you read through the regulations you get a sense of what a 1960s, 1970s general secretary does, not what our general secretaries are actually doing today,” said Mr Jones.
“What we are proposing is that we update the content of the synod general secretaries by crafting them on the duties that have been assigned to the Assembly General Secretary.”
The proposal passed with consensus.
